Experienced Box Lacrosse Coaches Join Ron Cogan, Darris Kilgour, and Stew Monture to Coach and Evaluate Players

ORLANDO, FL – The American Box Lacrosse League (ABLL) today announced that Chris Brim and Garrett Cree have been named Assistant Coaches for the league’s inaugural Invite-Only Player Combine, scheduled for November 21–22, 2026, at the Mary C. Winder Community Center in Oneida, New York.

Brim and Cree will work under the direction of Ron Cogan, Director of Lacrosse Operations, Northeast Division, and recently announced head coaches and scouts Darris Kilgour and Stew Monture as the ABLL evaluates players competing for positions in the league’s inaugural player pool.

The two-day combine represents a critical first step in the ABLL’s player-development and recruitment process. Invited athletes will participate in evaluations, practices and competitive scrimmages designed to showcase their skills, lacrosse IQ, athleticism and ability to compete in the fast-paced indoor game. Selected players will subsequently be drafted onto teams participating in the ABLL’s inaugural Showcase/Barnstorming Tour.

“Chris and Garrett bring tremendous experience and a deep understanding of the box game to our combine staff,” said Ron Cogan, ABLL Director of Lacrosse Operations, Northeast Division. “Both have spent years developing players, coaching at a high level, and working within the lacrosse community. Their knowledge will be extremely valuable as we evaluate the talent coming into this combine and identify players who can become part of the future of the league.”

Brim currently serves as the varsity boys’ lacrosse head coach at Jordan-Elbridge Central in New York. He is also an assistant coach for the Italian National Box Lacrosse Team, adding an international perspective to his extensive coaching background. Prior to his current role, Brim coached at Onondaga Community College, where he was part of a highly successful program that captured 11 NJCAA championships.

Additionally, he has been deeply involved in the development of box lacrosse in Central New York for several years. His experience includes coaching in the North American Box Lacrosse League, as well as working with various youth lacrosse organizations.

A significant focus of Brim’s coaching career has been introducing field lacrosse players to the box game and helping them understand how to translate their outdoor skills to the faster, more physical indoor environment. That experience aligns directly with the ABLL’s mission of creating opportunities for American-born players to develop their box lacrosse skills and pursue opportunities in professional indoor lacrosse.

“I am excited to be part of the ABLL combine and to have the opportunity to work with Ron, Darris, Stew, and Garrett,” said Brim. “The ABLL is creating an important opportunity for players who want to develop their box lacrosse skills and pursue professional opportunities.”

Cree brings a wealth of experience as a player, coach and developer of box lacrosse talent. A former professional player, he was signed by the Buffalo Bandits of the National Lacrosse League.,

Cree has also built an extensive coaching résumé within the Canadian box lacrosse community. He served as head coach of the Kahnawake Hunters, where he guided the Junior B program and helped develop young players competing at a high level of box lacrosse. During the 2024 season, Cree led the Hunters to the Ontario Junior B Lacrosse League Eastern Conference Final, the deepest playoff run in the program’s history at that point.

His coaching experience extends throughout the Kahnawake lacrosse community, including youth and minor lacrosse programs. Cree has emphasized player development and the ability of lacrosse to create opportunities for athletes to compete at the college, international, and professional levels.

“I am honored to be joining the ABLL coaching staff for the inaugural combine,” said Cree. “There is a tremendous amount of box lacrosse talent in the United States. I look forward to working with the coaching staff and helping these athletes take the next step in their careers.”

The ABLL’s mission is centered on recruiting, developing and showcasing American players while creating a pathway for outdoor and collegiate athletes to transition into box lacrosse and pursue professional opportunities. The league’s broader development model includes player combines, showcases, and a tiered lacrosse ecosystem designed to provide athletes with additional opportunities to develop their games.

“The quality of our inaugural combine staff reflects the importance we are placing on player development from day one,” said George Manias, Co-Founder, President & Chief Operating Officer of the ABLL. “Chris and Garrett understand what it takes to develop players and compete in the box game. Their experience, combined with Ron’s leadership and Darris and Stew’s expertise, gives us a tremendous group to identify the players who will help establish the foundation of the American Box Lacrosse League.”
